Workshop Tools, Jigs and Fixtures – Functional 3D Printing by Drukuje3D

In workshops, garages and production halls, small custom aids save hours of work. A jig that holds a part at the right angle, a template for repeated drilling, a holder that keeps tools organised or a gauge that speeds up quality checks – these simple tools increase accuracy and productivity. Traditionally, they were machined from metal or cut from wood. Today, many of them can be designed and 3D printed quickly and inexpensively. Drukuje3D prints functional workshop aids for craftsmen, DIY enthusiasts and companies.

The key advantage is speed. A new jig can be designed, printed and used within days, and if it needs improvement, a new version is just another print.

Examples of workshop prints

  • drilling jigs and templates,
  • positioning and assembly fixtures,
  • gauges and measuring templates,
  • tool holders and wall organisers,
  • protective jaws for vices and clamps,
  • simple moulds and forms for casting.

Drilling jigs and templates

When the same pattern of holes must be drilled many times – for example in furniture or installation panels – a printed template ensures every hole is in the right place. For more precise or frequent use, metal drill bushings can be inserted into the printed body to protect it from wear.

Assembly fixtures

Fixtures hold parts in position during gluing, soldering or assembly. A fixture shaped exactly around the parts makes the process repeatable and reduces errors. This is especially useful in small series production.

Soft jaws and protective pads

Printed soft jaws for vices protect delicate surfaces from scratches. TPU is ideal for flexible pads, while PETG works well for rigid jaws shaped to hold irregular parts.

Moulds and casting forms

Printed forms can be used for casting silicone, resin, plaster or concrete in decorative and prototype applications. A suitable release agent and smooth surface finishing improve results. Drukuje3D can advise on design and orientation for such forms. Details are available at https://drukuje3d.com/en/3d-printing-service/.

Material selection

PETG is a reliable all-rounder for jigs and fixtures thanks to its toughness. ABS is suitable where higher temperatures occur. TPU is used for soft elements. PLA is stiff and accurate, making it suitable for templates and gauges that are not exposed to heat or impacts.

Limitations

Printed plastic tools are not a replacement for hardened steel where high forces, cutting or heat are involved. They work best as guides, holders and positioning aids. Drukuje3D will advise honestly if a metal solution would be better.

Summary

Custom jigs, fixtures and holders printed by Drukuje3D make workshop tasks faster, more accurate and more repeatable. Describe your process, and a dedicated tool can be designed and printed for your exact needs.

Many Drukuje3D customers start with a single holder or jig and soon find more processes that can be improved the same way. Because each tool is designed around a real task, even simple printed aids can noticeably reduce mistakes, save time on repetitive work and keep the workshop better organised.
